Monday Night Hoops

  • Every 2007 NCAA College Basketball Tournament game on DVD!. Now shipping!

  • Goodman's blog talks about the USA under 19 roster announcement. The twelve players for this version of Team USA U19 chosen include four incoming college freshmen. The team also includes two players from mid-major conferences. The games under the banner of FIBA will take place in Serbia, july 12 - 22 and coached by the next John Beilein (Jerry Wainwright of DePaul). Kansas fans are quite familiar with him - the spider bite still hurts :) Dick Hoops Weiss also talks about the roster.
  • The latest from the Colonial at the CAA Hoops blog
  • Mike DeCourcy dishes his Gerald Wallace awards of the 2007 NBA Draft. The names of Josh Mecha-Roberts and Glen Big Baby Davis are mentioned. In another post DeCourcy talks about scheduling at Arizona and Cincinatti and the realignment of the Washington Huskies frontline after Spencer high-flying Hawes NBA'ed (a verb, meaning to go to the NBA)
  • The Dookies are coming! The Dookies are coming... at Harvard
  • March Madness All Season looks at the post NBA draft situation, with rants and ramblings :)
  • The 144 previews in 144 days at CHN continue with College of Charleston, Louisiana-Monroe and South Carolina
  • Cliff Ellis, former coach and tv analyst returns to coaching at Coastal Carolina. Following the example of fellow tv partner Bobby Cremins, Ellis has gone to a competitive but non-BCS team. He replaces Michael Jordan's best man.
  • Meanwhile, the Western Meeecheeegan coach is released from the hospital after suffering a seizure.
  • More news on the Big Ten Network: The official launch date is August 30, 2007. They have been running the "coming in august 2007" ad for way too long to not launch in August, even if it's almost the last day of the month. The channel will be available on DirecTV, but the negotiations with Comcast are continuing. Speaking of which, how about ESPNU on Comcast? We want that too!.
  • The Clyde Kentucky Revival (sounds like a 60s rock group?) is the subject of today's Gary Parrish stream of words.
  • Not to be outdone by the NBA, the Harlem Globetrotters got their own draft and among others they drafted high flyer Air Georgia and Super Mario. (Brent Petway and Mario West).
  • If you think i'm joking about the Harlem Globetrotters Draft, here is proof of it!. They picked an ant (5-10) and a giant (7-9) as well.
  • And this CAA controversy is revived at the NBA summer league: The last time Tony Skinn and Loren Stokes of Hofstra had contact it was ...below the belt. This time they will be teammates. More on this at the George Mason basketball blog
  • Gary Parrish of CBS Sportsline wonders: eight year olds in AAU?. That and more at Recruiting Wars
  • The HoopsCoach blog talks about winning within
  • Speaking of coaches, how is ESPN coverage is going to be next year without Majerus? I believe Majerus was under-utilized by ESPN, as they preferred to spotlight some of their traditional analysts (eg Digger Phelps reading the stat sheet or Dick Vitale promoting himself or Coach K) or their advertiser-favored analysts (the ones that bring in the younger audience such as WD40 Lavin and Stephen A Gottleib). Granted Majerus was not exactly the next Wolf Blitzer, but the role of the analyst was to analyze the games, and Majerus provided a level of insight that none of the other tv talking heads did in the past (packer incluced).
