New Mexico State at Duke

Our Italian correspondent, Ricardo Vitalioni, was in town, and he sent us this report from the game. And yes, the pictures below (sometimes) have symbolic messages, like the floor mat in this case :)

The game was a tale of two Dookies. During the first half, we saw a typical Cameron take-them-out Duke performance that reminded us of the Duke teams we loved to hate. The second half showed a Duke team we loved to watch in 2006-2007 because it was much more likely to lose and lacked the "Duke factor" :)

Kyle Singler was celebrated, and for good reason, he is a very solid player. Against the Aggies however he was really in the background, allowing Greg Paulas and others to take the spotlight. I still can't believe Greg Paulass is one of the top 40 point guards according to the Bob Cousy selection committee, while Jeremy Pargo is not! You are picking the top 40 players baby, not the top 40 BCS teams! Wake up and watch some games Bob Cousy selection cmte! The cynics out there might ask: "Has anything good ever come out of a committee?"

The New Mexico State Aggies showed flashes of Pitino-esque style of play, since their head coach Marvin Menzies and their previous TV coach Reggie Theus had spent time with Rick PitinoVille. But with Herb Pope and J. Young still waiting to hear whether they are eligible, they were not at 100%. Yes, that's another committee responsible for clearing them to play! Not that that justifies how they played in the first half. They got the typical "Cameron OpenDoor stadium" punch in the mouth and did not recover until the second half.
