Apparently Billy Clyde Gillispie is currently coaching Kentucky without a contract. Why is that an issue? Part of it perhaps because of the big home loss (Gardner Webb), part of it because the fans and reporters have a lot of idle time in-between games, part of it because sensational news get people's attention. A Sea of Blue covers this in detail, including links to stories by the AP, Kentucky.com and KentuckySportsRadio.com. To put it in perspective, Gillispie has not been one to have an army of agents and handlers, so going without a contract is not as big of a surprise as it would be for a coach who has an army of handlers (*cough* leeches *cough*).
And while we are on the topic of Kentucky, Kentucky Ink has some recruiting-related news for Kentucky fans. Look for the news in their KentuckyInk message boards (free to register/signup). A certain player appears to have been cleared by the Big Brother (NCAA) which could/would make him eligible to play this season instead of waiting for 2008-2009. I don't want to spoil the surprise, so you have to read it over there :)
