The first half looked gloomy for Arizona fans as they managed to give up their early lead, and actually fall behind to the UMKC Kangaroos. This was starting to look bad for the Kevin O'Neill era, but the second half was different as freshman Lucas Laval Perry came in and injected some toughness to the Wildcats who played defense more to the liking of Kevin O'Neill. Perry's enthusiasm also motivated senior Daniel Dillon who had a career high 14 points with 3 out of 3 three pointers. Meanwhile, the other freshman, Jerryd Bayless was just one assist and one rebound short of a triple double. Yes, close to a triple double.
And while the second half was very promising for the Wildcats, their Sunday Big12-vs-Pac10 game with Kansas will be a good test. Not that they would be expected to win, but rather, can they be competitive in the game and avoid being blown out? Kansas may be without Sherron Collins, but they are loaded.
