Mid-majors of the world unite and take over! CAA author trades books with MAC author. What am I talking about? Michael Litos wrote a book on George Mason and the CAA, Cinderella: Inside the Rise of Mid Major College Basketball, focusing on the year George Mason made their dream run to the Final Four. Meanwhile, Ray Mernagh wrote "1 Chance 2 Dance:A Season Inside Mid-Major Hoops In Mid-America" (currently not listed at Amazon), focusing on a season of Mid-American Conference (MAC) basketball.
Meanwhile Van(ce) Coleman at CSTV publishes the top 42 recruiting classes of 2007. Some familiar places and some new coaches making a splash in his list. Three big ten teams in the top 10, so maybe they'll play more offense and less slugfest :-) The next John Beilein (Jerry Weinwright) is in the top 10. Highly recommended!
The gigantic 2007-2008 season preview has been updated with some of the most popular preseason tournaments, along with a handful of pre-season rankings by various website.
The weekly tv listings have been updated. Check the post below for all the details. Also look for a link to games that pertain more to recruiting.
Goodman's blog talks about Kelvin 500 calls Sampson hitting the road again, Rick Barnes and John Grisham (???), a sneak peek at next year's Ohio State's starting line-up, Oden fouling everyone at the NBA Summer League. Meanwhile Jeff Capel kicks an incoming freshman off the team, rather ...early (former teammate of OJ Mayo and Patrick Patterson)! More updates from Goodman: LeBron makes more than an appearance at his own event, Nigel Munson transferring out of Va Tech, Tubby Smith and Billy Clyde Gillispie sitting next to each other, and Josh Mecha-Roberts got a two-year contract by the Portland NotJailblazers-AnyMore. Check his blog for all the details.
The season previews keep coming at CHN's 144-part series with Miami of Ohio, Hampton and Bucknell being the latest teams previewed. You know we are getting close to the new season when the CHN previews start coming out!
New Orleans (the university) finds a new head coach according to CBS Sportsline Gary Parrish. Who is he? an assistant from Cal-Berkeley.
This does not look good for Cal, tiny Jerome Randle and wing Patrick Christopher attempted to scare people using a shiny silver cellphone? Maybe the fumes from all the "smoking of herbs" in Berkeley got to them ;-) This does not look good though.
