*** all times pacific; add +3 for eastern time ***

  • Outside the Lines: Nick Saban's final answer. Not basketball, but it's a cliffhanger soap :-)

    LIVE GAMES!
  • 4pm: Kansas State vs Xavier on ESPN2. Catch a glimpse of highly touted Billy Walker, OJ Mayo's teammate. Prediction: Kansas State in a close game
  • 430pm: Villanova at West Virginia on CSN and ESPN Full Court. Promising game on paper, with two exciting teams to watch. Lock up John Beilein West Virginia! The multi-million contract offers are going to be flying his way after he proves this year that he can win big with his system and more athletic players. Prediction: Crystal ball is muddy...
  • 5pm: Penn at North Carolina, on ESPN. This game redefines "not even close". NC will score 90+ but under 100.
  • 6pm: Gonzaga at Virginia on ESPN2. When you have a nice new shiny arena, you want to bring in the stars. And the Zags continue to be a mid-major star-darling. Have the Zags been worned out? Remember they are playing without four players that they are supposed to be part of their rotation. Prediction: Gonzaga wins comfortably.
  • 630pm: CAA action! Hofstra at UNC Wilmington on Fox College sports and regional FSNs
  • 7pm: California at Stanford on FSN and Fox College Sports. The Battle for NoCal. On paper Stanford should win with 20+. But in a local rivarly game anything is possible...
  • 8 games on ESPN Full Court starting at 3pm

    Reruns
    * a number of reruns on Fox College Sports...

Why would Stanford win by at least 20 points on paper? California is a good team, even without Devon Hardin. I'd have Stanford winning, but not by 20 points.

I assume since you put the times in Pacific Time that you are from some where on the west coast. I'd also assume that you're from the west coast due to your obvious confidence in Gonzaga. You sure seem to like the Bulldogs, "win comfortably", well u sure were dead on with that prediction, congrats. Next time, realize what UVA has done at home over the last two years, especially what they have done this year. You sure do put good thought in ur predictions.

That's why they are predictions! If you look at my previous predictions, they are to be used as contrarian indicators :-)

Maybe I should include justifications for each prediction, but then it would take forever to write it up :)

I picked Stanford by 20 because of raw talent vs Cal being short-handed. This was obviously a wild prediction, since local rivarly games typically have a life of their own.

I picked Gonzaga to win because they never had a four-game losing streak under Few, and Virginia has been more unpredictable than the average team. Obviously I was right :)

Just because I'm on the west coast it doesn't mean that I'm in love with Gonzaga. I've said a lot of things about Gonzaga, some positive, some negative, some of which would make Gonzaga fans very very angry, such as GoneZaga when it comes to the NCAA tourney, or calling Raivio a little kid, especially when he plays like one.

The predictions are per single game, not for the whole season of a team (unless otherwise indicated). Each prediction is not necessarily my opinion on the whole season of a team. It's more fun to predict the less-likely outcomes than straddle the Vegas line. Getting them right is another story :)

And it looks like we have a bitter UVa fan reading this :-) I would have more confidence in UVa if they did not lose at home to Appalachian State (perhaps they watched Deliverance before the game?) or barely beat a non-D1 team or they got blown out by a mediocre Utah team. Why would they even play a non-D1 team in a non-exhibition game? I'm sure the ACC office is excited about that! The numbers don't lie: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/teams/vaf/schedule

Thanks for the correction! I looked at the YahooSports page which doesn't indicate neutral games. So the Appalachian State loss is not as bad as I thought, but the Utah loss is worse since I thought it was in Utah. But those three games were back-to-back in a three-day tourney, so a team can get the 3-day tourney benefit of the doubt...
