OJ Mayo Mania and impromptu 2007-08 season preview

  • Goodman reports on OJ Mayo practicising for a career in politics (he says he plans to return to USC next year unless he is a lottery pick etc etc). The new Arkansas coach (not Stan Heath, but John Pelphrey) is spotlighted. Also a few updates on recent non-qualifiers.
  • More on OJ Mayo in this AP story by Beth Harris. The obligatory reference to the other OJ was made (in case you were wondering)
  • DeCourcy's Inside Dish is back with Washington's magical mystery tour, a former NCState hoopster in the MLB and Odom's loss is MVC's gain. Also DeCourcy's blog is back (or it has a new url, or both)
  • Dick Hoops Weiss reports on the Big East buzz coming from the "internets": Pitino drama wth Gonzo? he asks. Or perhaps Pitino is simply trying to protect his former assistant Kevin Willard who has just taken over Iona. It's a lot easier for Gonzo as a Seton Hall head coach in the Big East and as a CSTV analyst to hire a new assistant, than Willard to get one as a first year head at Iona, in the tall and wide shadow of Jeff Ruland.
  • Coverage of Eddie Griffin's funeral at College Hoops Heaven. And they noticed that I wrote about them :-)

    Impromptu 2007-2008 Preview special
  • All you can eat season previews at CHN's Top 144 continuing with Miami (of Florida), Southern "Party Coach" Miss, Western Kentucky, Auburn and Saint Mary's.
  • Not quite 144 teams, but Rivals has a Top 64 team preview feature. They are currently at #44 with Theus-less New Mexico State, followed by Illinois (off-court troubles), Nebraska, and George Mason a spot ahead of Maryland (???). A nice preview job by Rivals, their previews are compact, concise, to the topic, printer friendly, and they avoid excessive use of multimedia, flash and other hogware! Well done!
  • Continuing with the preview theme, a detailed look at Kentucky's 2007-2008 roster at ASoB
  • DeCourcy looks at Indiana with Eric Gordon on its roster. Will Kelvin Sampson be forced to play some offense?
  • DeCourcy also looks as Duke's schedule and thinks it prepares them for March (Sadness! hehe). Thank VCU, thank you :-)
  • DeCourcy's also looks at Northern Iowa's international tour moonlighting as Team USA. Will the experimental triangle offense stick?
  • Recap and recount the coaching changes of the off-season at CBS Sportsline, which appears to be on vacation at the moment (no new updates)
  • And if you want more previews, be sure to visit and bookmark our gigantic 2007-2008 preview via links!. If you have a blog or website on this topic and want it added to the list, just leave a comment or send an email!
