TV guide August 27 - September 10

  • Do read this! All times pacific, for live games add +3 for eastern, adjust for other time zones... I am boycotting ESPNU tv listings until Comcast and ESPN reach a compromise and make ESPNU available to their millions of customers
  • The Big Ten Network goes live on August 30, 2007 with Big 10 college football action! Details at the Big Ten Network website. There you will find that 36 of their 39 college football games will be in high definition. Dave Revsine (of ESPN fame) will be the studio anchor/host, with FSN's Charles Davies and Thom (pronounced Tom, but looks fancier on papier) Brennaman doing the games.
  • High school and recruiting-related tv coverage at Recruiting Wars. No games, just reruns of Future Phenoms this week.
  • Almost every 2007 NCAA men's college basketball tournament game on dvd

  • Fri Sept 7, at 7pm, 1966 NCAA Tournament Championship, Texas Western vs Kentucky, one hour edit, at ESPN Classic
  • Fri Sept 7, at 8pm, 2006 NCAA Tournament Championship, Illinois vs North Carolina, one hour edit, at ESPN Classic

  • Mon Aug 27: Second round action begins, with Team USA playing on ESPN2 at 8pm pacific, and NBA-TV with FSN showing other games
  • Tue Aug 28: More second round games, with Team USA on ESPN2 at 8pm, and FSN/NBATV showing the other games
  • Wedn Aug 29: Second round games - coverage same as above, with TeamUSA at 8pm on ESPN2. If you miss the games, they will repeat later on on NBA-TV
  • Thur Aug 30: The second round concludes today, with Team USA playing at 9pm on ESPN2, and FSN and NBA-TV covering the other teams, along with repeats
  • Fri Aug 31: Rest Day! ESPN Classic and NBATV plan to show a couple of rebroadcasts
  • Sat Sept 1: The Semifinals!. These are THE BIG GAMES of the tourney. The winners of the two semifinals automagically qualify for the 2008 Olympics. The games will air at 4pm and 6pm (or so) on ESPN Classic. If you miss them, both semifinals will repeat starting at 8pm on NBA-TV, while the Team USA game will repeat at 1030pm on ESPN2.
  • Sun Sept 2: The Bronze metal game (3rd place) will air at 1pm on NBA-TV, and the Gold metal game at 4pm on FSN and NBA-TV. They will repeat on NBA-TV and FSN. These games are for pride only, they have no impact on the Olympics standings. The two teams playing for the gold metal have already qualified for the Olympics, while the teams playing for the bronze metal have already qualified for the pre-Olympic qualification tournament in July 2008 (teams #3,#4, and #5 from FIBA Americas qualify for that).

  • Fri Sept 7, 430pm, 2007 Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, from Springfield, Mass, the home of the basketball hall of fame, on ESPN Classic. The event will likely air on NBA-TV as well, but it is not the listings yet.
