Yet another typical UNC ACC road game. But this time they had to do it without their little engine that could. Tywon Lawson had a high ankle sprain that took him out of the game early.
This significantly increased FSU's chances for a high profile win, but the Tar Heels were able to recover and adjust and sloppily win the game in overtime.
Hansbro had a relatively quiet double-double, and Q aged like wine (in terms of effectiveness) as the game progressed. As I have mentioned before, there's something missing from this Carolina team, and I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's (not) there. And this is with or without Ty Lawson.
Florida State could have won this game, but their issues caught up with them, having too many guards can mean too many wild shots, too many "I can save the day" drives and plays. And while Leonard Hamilton's record may not be as impressive, his teams are usually almost there. And all they need is the extra boost to take them "there". Which is perhaps why FSU rewarded him with a contract extension. That, plus a number of high profile wins, including multiple wins over the Dookies. And for that, we thank Leonard Hamilton :-)
